Profiting from Play
Facts & Fun. Link for pleasure and competition. This is what one might refer to as the ‘adult game’, the learning component being much less present. The game, which has many more cards and subject areas then the others, is played slightly differently than the other versions. Players can play as individuals or as teams. Before the game begins, the players role the dice, the player with the highest number is the first to choose a subject pack, and so on and so forth. (There might have to be extra dice throws if players end up with the same total). The first subject pack chosen will be the first to be played, etc. If this is a game with teams, each team member is given a ‘tag’ voucher. (However, the players can agree to offer themselves more vouchers, if everyone agrees). Each player or team is now given 1,000 credits. Before each round, the player who’s turn it is can make a wager that they will succeed to find the correct response. A player can bet up 100 credits. However, if they win that round, they then have the choice to take their credits, or leave their winnings ‘on the table’, (let it ride), as the bet for their next round, or to bet on other player succeding to win their turn, before the initial player’s next round. However, before they turn their first card over, any other player or team can bet, either the maximum of 100 credits, or any credits that they have let ride on the table, on the player succeeding to win the round. After the card is displayed, the player can choose to either: 1. Continue, leaving the bet as it isContinue and double the bet, (applies to all bets from all players) 2. Continue and role the dice. The dice has sides 0, 1, 2, 4, 8 &16, the original bets are multiplied by the number thrown, (also applies to all bets) 3. ‘Tag’ another member of their team, using their ‘tag’ voucher. The other team member is allowed to substitute for the initial player. They then turn a second card over, if they win, the bank pays out everyone, if they lose, the bank recuperates all the credits. However, there is also the option to pass. In this case, the initial player loses half of their bet and the open card passes onto the next player. The next player takes over the turn and has the same 4 options open to them. Winning and Losing Before the game begins, it is necessary to decide on how you wish to judge this. There are any number of ways of determining this; number of rounds /subjects, time limitation, ‘last one standing’, leagues. ‘Number of rounds’, is self-explanatory. The winner is the person / team with the most money at the end. ‘Time limitation’, also self-explanatory. The winner is the person / team with the most money at the end. ‘Leagues’; records are kept of past games, (all of the same number of rounds or time), and the value of the credits of each player / team after each match, is added to their totals. The players with the highest credits are then ranked in the league. ‘Last one standing’, play until there is only one person / team that has any money left.
